The World’s Largest Sports Related IT Contract

As the Worldwide IT Partner for the Olympic Games and Top sponsor, Atos Origin integrates, manages and secures the vast IT system that relays results, events and athlete information to spectators and media around the world. The Atos Origin contract with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) is the world’s largest sports related IT contract. Here the company brings extensive international IT experience to the Olympic Games, including global expertise and leadership in consulting, systems integration, operations management, information security and software applications development.

Worldwide IT Partner International Paralympic Committee
In January 2008, Atos Origin also became the official Worldwide IT Partner of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC). Under the agreement between Atos Origin and the IPC, Atos Origin will contribute to the development of the Paralympic Movement through the creation of a system which is designed to manage the athletes data, including results, biographical and classification specific information. 

The Olympic Games are a complex mix of technology, processes and people. Not only is there the scale and complexity of the project, covering many clients, sites and systems, but it is also a multi-supplier project with many varied dependencies. Furthermore, the whole event is highly visible and the world is watching. And where victory is measured by the smallest margin, there are no second chances.

The focus is now on Beijing where the 2008 Olympic Games will be held from 8th – 24th August. The competition will take place in 7 cities including Hong Kong (Equestrian) and Qingdao (Sailing). To prepare for this, Atos Origin has had a team in place in Beijing since October 2004 working together with the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games and various international and local technology partners.
