Our people
Our consultants are drawn from all industries and specialisms. The majority have had more than five years of industry experience before becoming consultants. Most of our consultants, and all of our senior management team, have worked on public sector procurement and supply chain engagements during their consulting careers and are intimate with the issues facing the sector.
Our public sector clients find that our consultants bring a pragmatic, results-oriented approach that adds value when working with their in-house teams. Whatever the requirement, we can always offer a highly experienced team with relevant project experience that can typically help to secure procurement savings of 15-20%.
These capabilities maximise the likelihood of a successful outcome for any public sector project, while minimising exposure to risk. By drawing on our breadth of expertise and knowledge of other public sector projects, we aim to leverage our capabilities in key areas such as category content and market analysis, without the need to replicate work being done elsewhere.
Our methodology
From the outset our approach is benefits-led and subject to proven measurement techniques that have been accepted across the public sector.
We have developed a widely-used and proven category management process that is sufficiently flexible to be used across most public sector expenditure categories, including all indirect categories.
The process is available to any client’s in-house teams and can form part of a skills transfer process. Our change management and performance management methodologies are generally deployed in conjunction with category management. This is because most purchasing improvement programmes require significant change in the ways that organisations work to secure lasting benefits.
We provide the sole consulting support in category management and change management on the largest and most complex procurement transformation programme in Europe, on behalf of the Defence Logistics Organisation (DLO). The DLO spends over £6 billion annually on goods and services and has set a target of a 20% reduction (£1.2 billion) by 2006. Through its procurement reform programme, Atos Origin is supporting the MOD and is on target to exceed the requirements.
