Atos Consulting has a well-established track record of working with the Department for International Development (DFID) and the World Bank on programmes funded by international funding agencies in developing countries and transitional economies.
Both DFID and the World Bank are aiming to reduce poverty by helping developing countries to secure economic growth, improve basic services such as education and health, and ensure that their governments work more effectively to raise the basic quality of life.
DFID is aiming to meet the demanding target of reducing poverty to half its current levels by 2015, in particular through the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG).
Atos Origin is committed to supporting this target and applying its global experience and expertise to contribute to sustainable development that enables communities and individuals to realise their potential, wherever they live.
DFID works in a range of areas in order to achieve the MDG goals, as set out in its Public Service Agreement. Our work in this field is primarily focused on four key areas:
- Making governance work for poor people (public sector reform)
- Public financial management
- Justice sector reform and conflict prevention
- Economic restructuring and private sector development.
Over the past five years, Atos Consulting has worked on projects in these areas in over 40 countries, mainly in South Asia, Eastern Europe, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean.
